Uploading Videos: The Three Steps
Three steps, on the Upload Videos page, and they have to happen in this order.
-
Upload The Files
Under Step 1 - Upload Videos, press Choose Files, pick your videos and press Upload. As many at once as you like.
If they are all sitting in one folder, press Choose Folder under Or a whole folder and pick the folder itself. Everything inside it goes up in one go, including anything in folders within it. Files that are not videos are left behind, and the line that appears underneath says exactly what is about to be sent — read it before you press Upload.
Step 1. Either control fills the same batch, and the hint under the first is the rule that matters. -
Attach Product Names — Optional
Press Download Template for a spreadsheet with the right columns, fill it in, then Choose File and Import & Match. See attaching product names.
Step 2. Skipping it changes nothing about what plays. -
Publish, And Send It
Add a note saying what changed and press Publish and Deploy. Each kiosk collects it on its next check-in, under a minute. See publishing.
Step 3, with one version already published.
Worth Knowing
- Uploading is not publishing. A video that has never been published is on our servers and not on your screens. If a new video is not playing, this is nearly always why.
- The filename must be the barcode. A file named after the product uploads happily and then never plays — see the filename rule.
- Check it before you publish. The ▶ button on Video Database plays any video in your browser.
- A folder can hold the same barcode twice. Two files named for one product — an .mp4 and a .mov, say — count as one video, and the last one sent is the one kept. The line under the control warns you before you send them.
